In Memory
of Kenneth Gohagan |
|

Kenny Gohagan was an undiscovered country
boy, who played with different bands around the Allendale,
SC area. He was a lead guitar player, but played bass in
bands as well.
Kenny died in a car accident when he
was in his 40's and has been gone for quite some time.
However, this same legacy of the music still lives on in the
blood of many local and national undiscovered musicians and
singers and songwriters. The music just seems to stay in
their blood. That is because the Lord gave them that
talent, and one day he will call them back home to
either play for HIM or to play in the Devil's band.
There are many
more undiscovered country boys, just like Kenneth, who never
get that lucky break and make it in the world's music
scene. We, however, dedicate this page to all those
unsung and unnoticed musicians, singers and sonwriters who
still keep on playing and singing just for the love of
of the music.
In the end,
when all is said and done, it will not matter what we did in
the eyes of this old world, and we can't take any of the
fortune or fame with us, so all that matters is that you do
your best with the talents and gifts that God gave you, and
use it to BLESS people!
Play and sing for whoever will
listen! Go out into the hedges and the byways, the
nursing homes, the orphanages, and play for any folks who will
listen.
You will find, in the end, that it is NOT
about being KNOWN and fame and fortune, but it is simply about
THE MUSIC! The music is given to us by God to lift our
hearts on the wings of an eagle, it is given to us to
help us to cry for that lost loved one, so that we might be
healed from within, on the wings of a
dove!
Mmusic can speak, without words, what
we many times just cannot express, because we hide our
feelings and won't say the things that really matter, out of
fear. But MUSIC speaks what the HEART cannot
speak...music soars deep down into our very souls, and lodges
in our hearts, and brings about beauty from ashes, that
is what music does!
Music HEALS our hearts, or it can
help to tear it apart. Music links us to some
inner primeval part of ourselves that we have been given,
to commune with our maker.
That is why MUSIC should
come from the HEART, for only to the
HEART does music speak.
Never let the music in
you die! Never let any outside forces cause you to stop
believing in the music God gave to you. Music unites
brothers and sisters together in bonds of friendship, those
who play the music in groups, and sometimes it is for that
purpose alone, to bond us in love as brothers and sisters,
all born of the same Father, God, our
creator, our maker, and Jesus Christ His Holy
& Precious Son.
Kenny's music did not die, only Kenny's
body, but his music still lives on IN OUR HEARTS.

OUR MISSION
STATEMENT:
Everyday it is becoming more and more
evident that the evils of the world are being promoted by the mass
media, in radio, tv, satelllite, and in magazines, books, and many
other publications. The Bible predicted that this would happen
in the last days before Jesus Christ returns to
earth.
Our Oline Christian magazine is proud to
be a part of GOD'S MEDIA ARMY,
who will help to spread the gospel of Jesus
Christ through the printed word. Our base of operations is in
the SC Lowcountry, Bamberg, SC, but we know that this magazine
will be a shining light, not just to the S.C. Lowcountry, but to all
of SC and far beyond. Through us the LIGHT of Jesus
Christ will be shed abroad in the hearts of all of our readers
across the US and in other countries. Let us never forget that
Jesus is the TRUE LIGHT of the world, so don't be afraid to let your
light shine!
John
8:12: "I am the light of the world; he that followeth
me...shall have the light of
life."
Matthew 5:16:
"In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see
your good deeds and praise your Father in
heaven."

Jennifer Dyches, above, wrote most
of the music score for the movie "Firetrail" which was filmed
in many different parts of SC.
COLUMBIA-AREA BLUEGRASS BAND PROVIDES SONGS FOR
CIVIL WAR EPIC "FIRETRAIL"
"Beaver Creek", a bluegrass band based in the
Sandy Run area, contributed several original songs to the
soundtrack of the Civil War epic "Firetrail". The songs were
recorded by the band in the Columbia area, and are part of a
soundtrack CD featuring virtually all of the music from the
film.
Jennifer Dyches is the
creative force behind most of the songs used in "Firetrail".
Ms. Dyches met the director of "Firetrail" at a reenactment in
December 2005 and told him that she had come up with original
songs for the movie. At that point the film was in the very
early stages of pre-production and hadn’t yet been cast. There
was no recording of the songs at that time, so Ms. Dyches and
bandmate Mary Wilson played two of the songs live for Mr.
Forbes, who was very impressed by what he
heard.
"I had no idea what
to expect," Mr. Forbes recalls. What I didn’t expect was a
song of such astonishing beauty. Ms. Dyches is a talented
songwriter and I’m very happy she decided to introduce me to
her music."Jennifer Dyches wrote
five of the six songs used in "Firetrail". The sixth track was
an instrumental, "Pickle", written by bandmate Tom Coolidge.
It is a rousing combination of banjos and guitars.
Ms. Dyches was also cast in
a substantial supporting role in the film, the role of Sally
DuBose’s mother. Tom Coolidge was also a featured extra in a
bridge battle scene that takes place early in the
film.

Don Yoakum |
|

Don
Yoakum, a local lead guitar player, is originally
from Williston, SC. He now lives in Manning,
SC. He is part of the Christian/Gospel Group White
Stone, and is the studio guitar player for Bamberg's
"In Faith Studios." Don has been playing
professionally since he was in high
school.
Don can play any type of music, ranging
from Chet Atkins (he gets out his finger picks for
this) , blues (he puts his glass slide on his
finger for that) to dinner music, and he played rock n
roll for a long time. He was one of
those guitar players who put the guitar behind his
back and played, and even picked the guitar with his
teeth! We have actually seen him do this, but Don is
playing music for the Lord now, and to bring praise and
worship to the Lord and not himself
anymore.
Don is another local
undiscovered "guitar great " just like Kenny
Gohagan.
Don is also a guitar
luthier (builds guitars) and he can customize a guitar like
nobody we
know!
