Some of Mikey's Artifacts

We enjoyed  a private viewing of Mikey's Artifacts.  What a collection he has.   These were just pottery pieces alone!

A Mystery Bowl?

We don't understand yet why the inside of this fired Native American bowl is black.  The black is obviously charcoal, and still has the charcoal smell. It looks like a fig newton, so we called it the "Fig Newton Bowl"

Jordan Oglesby (above) holding another of the mystery bowl rocks!  We were truly amazed at Mikey's entire collection, much of which we did not see displayed, and which he has in boxes.  So we are showing only a portion of it here.

Interesting little dot to dot pattern on the right , while the top rim of another bowl (left) has round circular desisgns.

"Native American Artifacts"

Mikey Oglesby ,  ALlendale, SC (amateur archeologist), holding a display of some of the artifacts  he has found.  The one he is pointing to was examined by Dr. Al Goodyear, archaeologist at the Topper Site Archeology Dig near Allendale, and is reported to be around 9,000 years old.  Mikey  has found some very interesting Native American Artifacts, and he has many pottery pieces, whose era can be determined  by comparing them to a Native American Artifacts chart.  Most of his aratifacts are dated in the 4000-5000 year era, but  he has not  yet found any  older than about 10,000 years. He feels that he will eventually find them much older than this

.  Below is a close up of the big artifact in the middle of this display.  This is his "prize" artifact. Mikey has Native American blood on both his mother and father's side of the family.  On his mother's side, he has Cherokee, and on his father's side he has Croatan/Cherokee..

We do not know if this is some sort of hatchet, or type of tomahawk,  but we believe it was some sort of tool.  It is in one piece and  is not broken at all.  He has been offered $3000 and up for it, but it is not for sale.  You can reach Mikey at (803) 584-2610, and mention you read about his artifacrs on our magazine.

Pottery Halves

These pottery halves almost look as if they go together.
