"God is the supreme artist of all time, how can one even attempt to compete with creation?  And yet we DO, make that attempt through art!" Marty

I have always felt the need to paint, and to be creative with my hands...and I found that when I stifled this God given "creativity" I would sink into depression.  Painting or writing, or working in crafts, would bring me out of it!  Idle hands are the "devil's" workshop.   Marty

Each person has some sort of talent, although they may not have discovered it yet. Begin seeking God, to find out what your talent is.  It will usually lie in the area of what you love to do best.  Marty Helping others to see and develop their talents, will help to also bring out even MORE of your own.  God will multiply your own talent, for helping others to see or find their own!
Marty

Especially encourage the talent of young children!  This is an area  which will help to build their self esteem, and their own image of themselves for life.  If a child can find a gift or talent they are good at, they can find the true meaning of life, that they are VALUABLE to someone, and especially to God! Marty

SING!   DANCE! PAINT! LAUGH! LOVE!  These are ways to celebrate the life that God has so richly given us to enjoy!  Find something that you can give or contribute to someone, like a painting, or a song, or a poem, a cake, or a crocheted item, or a quilt, or a craft, and give it to someone who needs to know that Jesus loves them.  We are His  hands, we are His feet, We are His voice!  Marty

 About Marty's Art
( Marty Clayton Banfield)

Painting of Jesus
by Marty Clayton Banfield

Martha (Marty) has  been drawing and painting realistic landscapes and portraits since she was about 8 years old.  In her youth, she  took art lessons from Mrs. Thrailkill of Bamberg, SC.  Friends and teachers would seek her out to draw class posters, and pictures.  In both her Junior and Senior years in high school,  Martha  won the  Governor's State Poster Contest for her region, winning a plaque for Bamberg Co.  She  also  designed  the Bamberg  County scrapbook.

She later graduated from USC-Salkehatiche, pursuing a major in Art. When she received her Associate's degree,  (graduating with honors) that same year she  won the "Outstanding Artist of the Year" award, which was presented  by  USC-Salkehatchie  Art Professor, Conrad (Dutch) Mehlenbacher.

Martha, also known as Marty Clatyon Banfield, is now the publisher of an online Chrisitian magazine called "The Light of the Lowcountry"  which spotlights lowcountry artists and artisans, as well as local musicians and singers.  Marty is also a singer/songwriter, musician, photographer and videographer.

She paints realistic paintings, but enjoys doing abstracts with "Found Art."  Here is a sample of one of her recent abstracts.  This is now for sale and on display at the
Salkehatchie Arts Center in Allendale, SC.

The above is an acrylic painting with glued "debris" on top.
The picture is framed  on it's outer edges by two colums of glued on rope. The obejcts glued onto the painting are very 3d and have the appearance of coral ,  but are actually pieces of tree bark, leaves, rocks, and small pieces of rope.  The  green rocks are glued on in small green piles.  Some of the dark blue/black  objects are tree bark, and made to look like coral, and some others are actually mushroms soaked in indigo dye.  This painting is called
"Beachy"
and is priced at
$50.00, and can be purchased
at the Salkehatchie Arts Center
in Allendale, SC.

 MISSION STATEMENT:

Everyday it is becoming  more and more evident that the evils of the world are being promoted by the mass media, in radio, tv, satelllite, and in magazines, books, and many other publications.  The Bible predicted that this would happen in
the last days before Jesus Christ returns to earth.

Our magazine is proud to be a part of GOD'S MEDIA ARMY, who will help to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through the printed word.  Our base of operations is in the SC Lowcountry, Bamberg, SC,  but we know that this magazine will be a shining light, not just to the S.C. Lowcountry, but to all of SC and  far beyond.  Through us the LIGHT of Jesus Christ will be shed abroad in the hearts of all of our readers across the US and in other countries.  Let us never forget that Jesus is the TRUE LIGHT of the world, so don't be afraid to let your light shine!

John 8:12: "I am the light of the world; he that followeth me...shall have the light of life."

Matthew 5:16: "In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."
