Hannah Clayton Beard

Hannah Clayton Beard

(Retired Organsit for Mt. Pleasant)

On Oct. 23, 1994, the Organ Fund was established in honor of Mrs. Hannah Beard in grateful appreciation for 40 years of continuous service to the Music Ministry of Mt. Pleasant Lutheran Church.

Mrs. Hannah always has a smile for everyone, and is a former Ms. Bamberg County!

The Church Altar

I remember looking at the stained glass window above when I was just a little girl about 8 years old.  Because of this rendition of the Garden of Gethsemane, to this day, I keep a print of the Garden of Gethsemane on my office wall, because it reminds me of just how deep the roots of my faith run.

The Old Church Organ

This organ was donated to the church for historical value, by Mr & Mrs. Wofford G. Clayton, in honor of his mother and father, Mr. & Mrs. B. Ryan Clayton.  "Aunt Minnie" played the organ for the church for many years!

Well, now you know a whole lot of the history of the church organists, some who have devoted whole lifetimes in serving the Lord.

OUR MISSION STATEMENT:

Everyday it is becoming  more and more evident that the evils of the world are being promoted by the mass media, in radio, tv, satelllite, and in magazines, books, and many other publications.  The Bible predicted that this would happen in
the last days before Jesus Christ returns to earth.

Our Oline  Christian magazine is proud to be a part of GOD'S MEDIA ARMY, who will help to spread the gospel of Jesus Christ through the printed word.  Our base of operations is in the SC Lowcountry, Bamberg, SC,  but we know that this magazine will be a shining light, not just to the S.C. Lowcountry, but to all of SC and  far beyond.  Through us the LIGHT of Jesus Christ will be shed abroad in the hearts of all of our readers across the US and in other countries.  Let us never forget that Jesus is the TRUE LIGHT of the world, so don't be afraid to let your light shine!

John 8:12: "I am the light of the world; he that followeth me...shall have the light of life."

Matthew 5:16: "In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven."

The Hugo Bishop Family

Mrs. Doris Bishop, recently deceased, leaving Mt. Pleasant Sunday School with two of her children, Candace Fralix, on left, & son Bruce Bishop.  Mrs. Doris was known for her delectable cakes, and visited many sick people in Ehrhardt, bringing baskets to the sick.   She was a wonderful lady who gave much to her community.  The Bishops  are descendants of one of the older church families, the Ben Bishop family.  "Uncle Ben Bishop" was married to my grandmother's sister, "Aunt Willie" so they are cousins of mine. Actually in tracing the roots of most of these families, I have found that almost all of us are kinfolks somewhere down the line!

The Fred  D.Sease Family

The Fred D. Sease Family

Fred Daniel Sease, a 1951 graduate of Clemson College, has been a member of Mt. Pleasant Church Council since 1953.  He was Sunday School Supt. for 46 years, and his son Mark Sease is now the Sunday School Superintendent.

Fred married Helen Frances Bellamy of Bamberg, and they have 3 children:

Mark Daniel Sease, D.V.M, University of Ga. 1981, Marsha Elaine Sease Patrick, a 1983 graduate of the School of Pharmacy, USC, and Robert Kevin Sease, a 1985 graduate of Clemson University.

The Sease's are  anohter chuch family whose  ancestors  attended Mt. Pleasant  and whose church records date back to the 1700 & 1800's ,when one of the descendents papers were drawn up at St. Bartholomew Parish.

The  Wingard Copeland Family

Mary Hightower Copeland,
wife of Laurie Wingard Copeland III

Laurie Wingard Copeland III has served on the church council and is continuing the upkeep of the church cemetary.  His wife, Mary, above, served as Asst. Pianist for several years.  Mary was also one of my Math teachers in Jr. High!

The Copeland family in the Ehrhardt area have been traced back  to Jacob Copeland (1758-1836).  The Copelands are related to the Bishop and Chassereau familes of Mt. Pleasant Church.

There are 3 generations of Copeland's buried in the plot at Mt. Pleasant Church Cemetary.
